These longer ocean tours of our Atlantic
coast combine wildlife spotting, whale watching and the history of
the islands of the West Coast of Scotland.
3 hour Corryvreckan and Garvellachs Trip

This trip is an excellent way to take in all the highlights
of this part of the Argyll coast. We see both the Corryvreckan
and the Garvellach islands, with the chance of taking in a
little whalewatching if you prefer. We alter the timing, in
order to catch the whirlpool at its most impressive, so
sometimes we hit the Garvellachs first, and sometimes we shoot
straight out to the Corryvreckan. Either way, we always make
time for the many other special parts of the area, such as the
Balachuan hazelwood, a Scottish Wildlife Trust nature reserve;
Belnahua, Fladda and the slate islands, beautiful and
interesting landmarks off the coast; tern colonies; eagles'
nests; basking seals...What can we say, it's a special place!
4 hours Garvellachs Landing Trip

This ocean adventure combines wildlife spotting and the
history of stunning Atlantic islands in a landing trip to the
Garvellachs. This takes in the same route as the 2 and 3 hour
Garvellachs trips, but includes an exciting exploration of the
Holy Isle.
We land, by inflatable on the most southerly of the
Garvellachs chain.
This is the site of St Brendan's monastery a sixth century
ruin that was built some 21 years before St Columba landed on
the nearby Island of Iona. There are also the remains of
ancient beehive huts, and other archaeological remains, as
well as dramatic vistas that include the Islands of Mull and
Iona.
Please note landing on islands involves stepping onto beaches
or rocks, which are often slippery, and these are wild
uninhabited islands with many pitfalls! We only recommend them
for agile, fit people, equipped with sensible clothing and
footwear. It is, of course, possible for those not wishing to
go ashore to remain on the boat with our crew, and enjoy a
relaxing drink.
We will only undertake landings if sea conditions permit.
5-hour Whale-watching cruise
For trip maps please see the maps
for the 3 Hr and 4 Hr trips.
This trip includes both the Corryvreckan whirlpool and the Garvellachs. 'Whales generaly arrive in the area in the spring and leave in the autumn, the timing varies from year to year.
This five-hour offshore trip will take you to sites where
encounters with Minke whales are highly likely, and other
cetaceans; particularly porpoises and also dolphins may be
encountered.
This is an exciting trip, with hopefully bait balls and
associated birds and whales engaged in a feeding frenzy.
However we can only observe this on relatively calm days.
If the weather is not suitable, we may revise our travel
plans to stay in the shelter of the islands.
